Assistant General Manager - Regulatory Affairs

Role & responsibilities

Understand the implication of existing Government Policies, Rules & regulations formulated by different Central and State Regulators

Keeping abreast with changes in Regulatory regime at Central and State level.

Follow up on Tariff Adoption, Trading Margin & Procurement approval from CERC & SERCs.

Analysis of PPAs/PSAs, Bidding documents etc from Regulatory impact perspective.

Interfacing at ERCs, APTEL, CERC, SECI and NTPC.

Provide regulatory support to Commercial, Business Development, ISTS Grid, Project Development, O&M functions, etc.

Monitor requirements and compliances laid out by State ERCs, and CERC.

Develop good relation with policy makers in Central Government, Regulatory Authority, officers of various state governments energy department, Private Sector Power Producers, State Electricity Board and Intermediaries SECI & NTPC and Discoms.

Correspondence with Ministry of Power/Planning Commission/Standing Committee etc.

Setting up and development of power trading and renewable energy certificate (REC) businesses for the company.

Study and analysis of national and state level policies. Analysis of state level regulations for open access, developing contacts and negotiating for inter-state and intra-state power trading through exchange and bilateral market.

In-depth understanding and regular updates on the functioning of power exchanges for physical power and REC market.

Responsible for handling all regulatory affairs related to power trading and REC for the company.

Should have contractual awareness, like those for power trading & REC.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum of 10-15 years experience in the power sector.
• Should have exposure and thorough knowledge of sale of Power, including Power Trading.
• Should have participated and played a role in Power reforms and restructuring.
• Exposure to power Distribution operations and management.
• Should have established long standing contacts with the major power traders.
