Assistant General Manager Quality Aluminium Extrusions

Role & responsibilities

. Quality Assurance & Control

• Develop, implement, and maintain the quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and relevant standards such as ASTM, EN, or BIS for aluminium extrusions.
  
• Supervise inspection and testing activities across all stages billet, extrusion, aging, anodizing, powder coating, machining, and final inspection.
  
• Approve first-piece inspection reports and ensure in-process and final quality checks are followed.
  
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for internal and customer complaints.
  
• Define and implement process control parameters for extrusion presses, die corrections, and finishing lines.
  

2. Customer Quality Management

• Review customer quality requirements, drawings, and specifications before production.
  
• Handle customer quality audits, product approvals, and periodic quality reviews.
  
• Ensure quick resolution of customer complaints through structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5Why, FMEA).
  
• Maintain strong communication with marketing, production, and R&D for customer feedback and improvement actions.
  

3. System & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  
• Drive process and product certification initiatives (e.g., Qualicoat, Qualanod, NABL, BIS).
  
• Oversee calibration of all measuring instruments and testing equipment.
  
• Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and test certificates.
  

4. Continuous Improvement

• Implement Lean Six Sigma tools for process improvement, scrap reduction, and cost optimization.
  
• Monitor and analyze quality KPIs such as rejection %, rework %, customer complaints, and process capability (Cp/Cpk).
  
• Conduct quality training and awareness sessions for operators and engineers.
  
• Collaborate with die shop, production, and maintenance teams for extrusion die performance enhancement.
  

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• Customer complaints and rejection % reduction
  
• In-process quality improvement (Cp/Cpk 1.67 for critical parameters)
  
• Timely closure of CAPA and audit observations
  
• Achievement of quality cost reduction targets
  
• Timely calibration and audit compliance
  

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:

  B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Industrial Engineering

• Experience:

  15-20 years in Quality function within

  Aluminium Extrusion Industry

  (minimum 5 years in managerial/AGM level)

• Certifications:

  ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred

technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of aluminium alloy metallurgy (6xxx series 6061, 6063, etc.)
  
• Understanding of extrusion press operations, heat treatment, surface finishing, and dimensional control.
  
• Familiarity with measuring instruments: spectrometer, tensile tester, hardness tester, profile projector, coating thickness gauge, etc.
  
• Proficiency in MS Office, SAP (QM module), and statistical quality tools (SPC, MSA, FMEA).
