Job Title: Assistant General Manager (AGM) Sales & Business Development (Solar Projects)

Location: Bangalore, India

Department: Sales & Business Development Renewable Energy

Industry: Solar Energy (Rooftop & Ground-Mounted Projects)

Reports To: General Manager / Vice President Sales & Strategy

Experience Required: Minimum 15 years in Solar or Renewable Energy sector

Compensation: 12 24 LPA (Based on experience and expertise)

Job Summary:

Assistant General Manager (AGM) Sales & Business Development

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Leadership & Business Growth

  • Drive revenue generation through

    end-to-end sales of solar projects

    (rooftop and ground-mounted).
  • Oversee the development and execution of sales plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with industrial, commercial, institutional, and government clients.
  • Lead high-value negotiations and finalize large-scale project contracts.
  • Ensure consistent achievement of quarterly and annual sales targets.

2. Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify emerging business opportunities and potential markets in the renewable energy segment.
  • Develop and execute strategies to strengthen the company’s market footprint and brand visibility.
  • Build strategic alliances with EPC companies, consultants, financial institutions, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate new business models and partnerships to diversify revenue streams.

3. Lead Generation & Strategic Planning

  • Design and implement

    strategic sales and marketing initiatives

    to generate qualified leads.
  • Analyze market dynamics, competitor strategies, and customer requirements to guide business decisions.
  • Provide input on pricing, product positioning, and marketing strategies to management.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to forecast market trends and sales performance.

4. Project Acquisition & Execution Coordination

  • Manage the entire

    project acquisition lifecycle

    — from lead identification and proposal development to contract signing.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, design, and finance teams for project feasibility and technical proposals.
  • Oversee tender participation and ensure compliance with bidding requirements.
  • Maintain client engagement throughout the project lifecycle to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

5. Financial & Performance Reporting

  • Prepare and present

    monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports

    to top management.
  • Analyze financial metrics including revenue, profitability, and project ROI.
  • Recommend strategies for cost optimization and improving sales margins.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) across business verticals.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Energy Engineering or a related field.
    • MBA or Postgraduate degree in Marketing, Sales, or Business Management preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum

      15 years of experience

      in sales, business development, or project acquisition in the

      solar energy or renewable sector

      .
    • Proven experience handling large-scale rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, project economics, and policy frameworks.
    • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop long-term business plans.
    • Strong financial and analytical acumen for project evaluation.
    • Proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office, and report generation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Annual sales revenue and project acquisition targets achieved.
  • Number and value of new clients onboarded.
  • Profitability and performance of acquired projects.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of performance and financial reports.
  • Market share growth and customer satisfaction levels.
