Assistant Environment Health and Safety Manager

Role Objective:

To ensure effective implementation of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) systems and compliance at the plant site, while driving a culture of safety, sustainability, and regulatory excellence in line with corporate EHS policies and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. EHS Compliance & Governance

• Ensure 100% compliance with local, state, and national EHS regulations (Factories Act, Pollution Control Board norms, etc.)
• Maintain all statutory documentation and records related to safety, health, and environment audits
• Liaise with government authorities for EHS inspections, renewals, and legal requirements
  

2. Safety Management

• Conduct safety risk assessments, HIRA, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all critical operations
• Ensure timely investigation and reporting of incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts
• Conduct regular safety audits, mock drills, and toolbox talks to strengthen shop floor safety
  

3. Environment & Sustainability

• Monitor and ensure proper waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous) as per SPCB norms.
• Track water, energy, and emissions KPIs; implement initiatives to reduce environmental footprint
• Support initiatives on ETP/STP management, energy conservation, and sustainability reporting
  

4. Health & Occupational Safety

• Ensure proper implementation of health protocols, including PPE compliance, ergonomics, and occupational health monitoring
• Coordinate periodic health check-ups and medical surveillance for plant employees
• Maintain hygiene, first-aid systems, and emergency preparedness plans
  

5. Training & Awareness

• Conduct EHS induction for new employees, contractors, and visitors
• Drive safety awareness through campaigns, posters, and monthly safety themes
• Develop and track safety KPIs and ensure continuous improvement in EHS culture

Skills:

• Good knowledge of statutory EHS compliance
• Exposure to safety management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 preferred)
• Incident investigation, RCA, and corrective action planning
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and documentation skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office, SAP-EHS (preferred)
