Assistant Engineering Supervisor

Assistant Engineering Supervisor assists in managing an engineering department, overseeing projects and technical staff, coordinating tasks, and deputizing for the Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities include ensuring project completion, managing staff, allocating workloads, controlling budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and significant engineering experience to effectively support the engineering manager and achieve departmental goals. 

Key Responsibilities

Team Management:

Supervise and guide technical staff, allocate work, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance and feedback. 

Project Oversight:

Assist the Engineering Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring engineering projects, ensuring they meet objectives and quality standards. 

Operational Support:

Help manage daily operations, maintenance activities, and the upkeep of physical assets, ensuring safety and operational efficiency. 

Budget & Resources:

Contribute to budget management and cost control, ensuring efficient use of assets and resources. 

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure that all engineering activities and operations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety policies. 

Deputizing:

Act as the Engineering Manager's representative and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

Engineering Knowledge:

Strong technical understanding of engineering principles relevant to the specific field. 

Leadership & Communication:

Proven ability to lead and motivate a technical team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Problem-Solving:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical and operational challenges. 

Project Management:

Experience in project planning, execution, and coordination, including managing schedules and resources. 

Collaboration:

Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, staff, and stakeholders. 

Qualifications:

A degree in an engineering-related field or relevant vocational qualifications and significant prior engineering experience are typically required.
