Job Description

As the Assistant Director of Engineering at a luxury five-star resort, part of an international chain, you will be responsible for assisting the Department Head in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Your focus will be on maintaining the building and grounds with a keen eye on safety, security, and asset protection. You will play a crucial role in assigning, tracking, and following up on the status of work assigned to staff and contractors. By enhancing communication and training, you will contribute to increasing guest and employee satisfaction. **Key Responsibilities:** - Supporting the management of Department Operations and Engineering Budgets - Assisting in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs. - Establishing priorities for total property maintenance needs. - Supervising day-to-day operations of Engineering. - Managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems. - Distributing repair work orders and supervising Engineering in the absence of the Director. - Maintaining Engineering Standards - Ensuring necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant are obtained and current. - Ensuring regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards. - Compliance with Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures. - Managing parts, supplies, and equipment inventories effectively. - Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service - Displaying leadership in guest hospitality and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations. - Obtaining feedback on product quality and service levels from guests. - Empowering employees to provide excellent customer service. - Conducting Human Resources Activities - Supervising staffing levels to meet guest service and financial objectives. - Training employees in safety procedures and fire protection. - Providing feedback to employees based on service behaviors. **Qualifications Required:** - Degree in Engineering with relevant experience in a Five Star Hotel. - Professional skills in Equipment Maintenance, Equipment Selection, Troubleshooting, Telecommunications, Purchasing and Materials Management, Building and Safety Codes, Emergency Systems, HVAC/Refrigeration, Indoor Air Quality Management, Energy Management, Financial Management, Water Facility Maintenance and Safety, and more. - Basic competencies in Computer Skills, Mathematical Reasoning, Oral Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, and Writing. In this role, your technical acumen and leadership skills will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of the Engineering department while maintaining high standards of service and safety at the resort.,
