Assistant Business Head/Deputy Business Head/Business Head (Designate) Engineering Products

Department:

Position Summary

The Assistant / Deputy Business Head / Business Head (Designate) – for our Engineering Products is responsible for leading the commercial, financial, and operational performance of the small to mid sized Engineering Products Division in Hyderabad, India. This role holds full P&L accountability and is tasked with developing strategic plans, driving market growth, strengthening financial performance, and ensuring operational excellence within a manufacturing-led SME environment. The incumbent will provide leadership across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Support functions to ensure the division meets its growth and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop and implement long-term business strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Lead commercial initiatives, including pricing strategy, business case development, capital allocation, and investment planning.
  • Monitor market landscapes, assess competitive positioning, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Establish clear business KPIs and ensure alignment with performance expectations.

2. Financial Management & P&L Responsibility

  • Manage end-to-end P&L performance, ensuring revenue growth and margin optimisation.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash-flow management for the division.
  • Conduct financial analysis, cost assessments, and ROI evaluations for strategic projects.
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls, compliance requirements, and reporting standards.

3. Sales, Marketing & Business Development

  • Direct sales strategy, customer acquisition, channel development, and account management.
  • Strengthen customer relationships and ensure high service levels across key accounts.
  • Evaluate market dynamics to guide pricing decisions, product positioning, and go-to-market plans.
  • Drive initiatives to expand market share and diversify revenue streams.

4. Operations, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Oversight

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, quality systems, throughput, and overall operational reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Support continuous improvement programmes and operational excellence initiatives.

5. Leadership & Organisational Development

  • Lead and manage young cross-functional teams to achieve business targets.
  • Develop talent pipelines and strengthen team capability across commercial and operational areas.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Aged about 32 to 38 years maximum. Male/Female.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 8 ~ 12 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial products, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in a middle leadership role with P&L responsibility.
  • Strong commercial sharpness, financial discipline and strategic management capabilities with an entrepreneur mindset.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain operations, and ERP systems.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or scaling SME businesses with an entrepreneur mindset.
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary teams across Sales, Operations, and Finance.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

  • Based in Hyderabad, India with periodic travel to customer offices & sites, vendor production facilities, and partner locations as required.
