Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced AS400 Developer to join our team in Hyderabad. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM iSeries (AS400) development, hands-on experience with RPGLE, CLLE, SQLRPGLE, and DB2/400, along with strong problem-solving and debugging skills. This role involves application development, production support, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain applications on the AS400/iSeries platform.

• Write and optimize programs using RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CLLE, and SQLRPGLE.

• Design and manage DB2/400 database structures, queries, and performance tuning.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and provide production support for business-critical applications.

• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and project managers to deliver solutions.

• Prepare technical documentation and ensure adherence to coding standards.

• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and deployments.

• Ensure system stability, scalability, and performance.

Must-Have Skills

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in AS400/iSeries development.

• Strong expertise in:

o RPGLE (RPG IV) & Free Format RPG

o CLLE (Control Language)

o SQLRPGLE

o DB2/400 (Database design, queries, optimization)

• Experience with ILE concepts (modules, service programs, binding directories).

• Strong debugging skills (STRDBG, job logs, system traces).

• Good knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Knowledge of COBOL/400 and DDS (physical/logical files, display/printer files).

• Exposure to change management tools (Aldon, TurnOver, etc.).

• Experience in integration with external systems (REST/SOAP, MQ, file transfers).

• Familiarity with banking/financial domain applications.

• Basic understanding of system administration tasks (job scheduling, monitoring).
