About the Role

Artisan Baker

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and present artisan breads, pastries, and baked goods to the highest standards.
• Work with natural starters, sourdoughs, levains, and other pre-ferments.
• Develop new recipes and seasonal menus in line with customer preferences and brand identity.
• Ensure all baked goods meet quality and consistency standards in terms of flavor, texture, and appearance.
• Manage daily production schedules, including dough preparation, proofing, and baking.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in the bakery kitchen.
• Monitor inventory of ingredients and assist in ordering supplies.
• Train, guide, and support junior staff or assistants if required.
• Stay updated on artisan baking trends and continuously improve skills.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an artisan baker, preferably in a café, bakery, or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of sourdough, fermentation, laminated doughs, and specialty bread-making techniques.
• Creativity and passion for experimenting with flavors and textures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen sanitation practices.
• Flexibility with early morning shifts, weekends, and festive peak hours.

Education

• Diploma/Certification in Bakery & Confectionery (preferred but not mandatory if experienced).
