AR Caller

• An AR (Accounts Receivable) Caller is a professional who contacts insurance companies and sometimes patients to follow up on unpaid or denied medical claims, ensuring timely payment and resolution of billing issues. Key responsibilities include checking claim status, resolving denials, correcting errors, updating records, and collaborating with billing teams to maintain cash flow for a healthcare provider.
• Core responsibilities
• Follow up on claims: Initiate calls to insurance companies to check the status of outstanding claims and secure timely payments.
• Resolve denials and underpayments: Investigate reasons for claim denials or underpayments and take action, such as appealing denials or refiling claims.
• Update and maintain records: Accurately document all calls, actions taken, and payment status in the system.
• Collaborate with teams: Work with the medical billing and coding teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure claims are submitted correctly.
• Ensure accuracy: Review remittance advice and identify errors in payments to ensure the provider receives the correct reimbursement.
• Provide customer service: Address inquiries and concerns from insurance representatives and, in some cases, patients.
• Essential skills and qualifications
• Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills are essential for interacting with insurance companies and internal teams.
• Medical billing knowledge: Familiarity with medical billing processes, revenue cycle management (RCM), and US healthcare insurance guidelines is often required.
• Problem-solving: The ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and resolve claim discrepancies is critical.
• Attention to detail: Meticulous record-keeping and the ability to spot errors are necessary for success in this role.
• Organizational skills: The role requires managing multiple priorities and tasks efficiently.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is a minimum requirement, with some positions requiring a degree.
• Experience: Previous experience in medical billing, AR, or revenue cycle management is often preferred, though some roles are entry-level.
