Application Support

Key Responsibilities:

Device & Cloud Integration

• Maintain and enhance Azure IoT Hub connectivity and device-to-cloud communication
• Manage device certificate validation and secure endpoint connections
• Monitor and troubleshoot device heartbeat messaging and status reporting
• Implement and test firmware update distribution mechanisms

Azure Development

• Develop and maintain Azure Functions for managing interactions between applications, Cosmos DB, and IoT devices
• Optimize the nightly tariff calculation function that integrates with Octopus Energy API
• Implement data synchronization between IoT Hub and Cosmos DB
• Ensure scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure performance

Application Support

• Work with Bubble.io no-code platform to support two mobile applications:
• Consumer app (iOS/Android) for device control and status monitoring
• Manufacturer app for device diagnostics and support
• Implement API integrations between Bubble apps and Azure backend
• Troubleshoot application-to-device communication issues

Data Management

• Design and maintain Cosmos DB schemas for device data, settings, and firmware versions
• Implement efficient data queries and storage optimization
• Ensure data integrity across the platform

Energy Management

• Maintain integration with Octopus Energy API for tariff data
• Optimize tariff calculation algorithms for cost-effective device operation
• Implement smart scheduling features based on energy pricing

Required Technical Skills:

Core Technologies

• Azure Services:

  IoT Hub, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB

• IoT Protocols:

  MQTT, device-to-cloud messaging, certificate-based authentication

• Programming Languages:

  Python (for Azure Functions), JavaScript/Node.js

• Database:

  Cosmos DB or similar NoSQL databases

• API Development:

  RESTful APIs, webhooks

Platform Experience

• Experience with Bubble.io or similar no-code platforms
• Mobile app deployment (Apple App Store, Google Play Store)
• Cloud infrastructure management
