Application Engineer- CNC Machine Tools

Job Purpose:

• A CNC Lathe & Machining Centre Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by bridging the gap between technical specifications and practical application
• They are responsible for programming, setting up, and troubleshooting CNC machines (lathes and machining centres) to ensure efficient and accurate production
• Their expertise helps optimize machining processes, improve product quality, andenhance overall manufacturing efficiency

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a CNC Application Engineer or similar role
• Strong understanding of CNC machinery mainly mechanics Application
• Engineering and Process and some portion of electronics
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and understand precision part drawings and process documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed

Key Responsibilities and Competencies:

• Writing and optimizing CNC programs for various machine types, including lathes and machining centres, to achieve desired part geometries and tolerances
• Analysing and improving existing machining processes to reduce cycle times, minimize material waste, and enhance overall efficiency
• Providing technical support to customers and internal teams regarding CNC machine operation, programming, and troubleshootingConducting training sessions for customers on the safe and efficient operation of CNC machines and demonstrating machine capabilities in showrooms
• Providing accurate cost estimates for machining operations based on part specifications and production requirements
• Ensuring that parts are manufactured to the required quality standards and assisting with quality control procedures
• Troubleshooting and assisting with maintenance of CNC machines to minimize downtime
• Keeping up to date with the latest CNC technologies and recommending their implementation to improve manufacturing processes
• Essential Skills:In-depth knowledge of CNC machine operations, controls (FANUC, SIEMENS, Mitsubishi) and mechanics
• Proficient in programming languages (e g , G-code) for both lathes and machining centres
• Strong understanding of various machining processes, including turning, milling,drilling, and tapping
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to CNC machines and machining processes
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for creating and modifying CNC programs
• Strong mathematical skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and algebra, for calculating dimensions and toolpaths
• Experience in calculating and proving process capability (CMK and CPK)Hands- on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and electrical systems
• Conversant with Drawing fits and tolerances
• Good communication and vendor coordination skills
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
• Desirable Qualifications (Optional):
• Exposure to C Programming and 5 Axis CAD / CAM
• Exposure to industry 4 0 tools or CMMS systems
