Airport Ground Staff are responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of airport services. They provide support to passengers, handle baggage, assist with aircraft operations, and coordinate with various airport departments to maintain high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Passenger Assistance
- Greet passengers and provide information regarding flight schedules, delays, gates, and airport facilities.
- Assist with check-in procedures, including issuing boarding passes and verifying travel documents.
- Guide passengers with special needs, including wheelchair assistance, unaccompanied minors, and elderly travelers.
2. Baggage Handling
- Tag, load, unload, and transport passenger baggage safely.
- Assist in tracing lost or damaged baggage and coordinate with the airlines baggage services team.
- Ensure correct weight and tag accuracy to prevent delays.
3. Boarding & Arrival Operations
- Coordinate boarding procedures, verify boarding passes, and assist passengers during boarding.
- Make boarding and gate announcements as required.
- Escort passengers during arrival, ensuring smooth movement from aircraft to terminal.
4. Aircraft Assistance (Ramp Duties)
- Guide aircraft during arrival and departure (marshalling).
- Load and unload cargo and baggage into aircraft holds.
- Assist in aircraft cleaning, refueling coordination, and safety checks as needed.
5. Customer Service
- Address passenger inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining a courteous and helpful attitude.
- Provide support during flight disruptions, cancellations, or delays.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow airport and airline safety regulations, including security protocols.
- Ensure all operational procedures comply with aviation standards.
- Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or security issues immediately.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred for some airlines).
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience is advantageous.
- Basic computer skills (GDS/airline software knowledge is a plus).
