AI Specialist (Legal Automation & Document Intelligence)

Role & responsibilities

Document & Legal Intelligence

• Develop and deploy AI models or tools to:
• Review and summarise contracts, leases, and other legal documents
• Identify and flag potential legal issues and inconsistencies
• Raise intelligent draft enquiries on titles, leases, and transaction documentation
• Review and learn from historical emails, advice, and training materials to guide document analysis
• Extract and cross-reference insights from conveyancing case law and textbooks

AI Agents & Chatbots

• Create and manage AI-powered chatbots and voice agents to:
• Handle and respond to inbound client queries (email, chat, phone)
• Integrate with Hoowla to access live case data and respond contextually
• Answer telephone calls with intelligent triaging and natural conversation flows
• Support staff with an AI assistant capable of answering legal or procedural questions

Integration & Automation

• Work closely with the operations and legal teams to:
• Integrate AI systems with Hoowla and other internal platforms
• Develop automation workflows to streamline common conveyancing processes
• Ensure AI solutions meet legal, compliance, and confidentiality standards

Continuous Learning & Improvement

• Build pipelines to ingest internal knowledge (emails, documents, precedents, training materials)
• Incorporate updates from legal sources, property law updates, and case law
• Train and fine-tune AI models to improve accuracy and usefulness over time

Preferred candidate profile

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions, preferably in a legal, financial, or regulated sector
• Strong proficiency with tools such as OpenAI, LangChain, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), or similar LLM frameworks
• Experience with document summarisation, legal NLP, and contract analysis tools
• Familiarity with voice agents and chatbot frameworks (e.g. Twilio, Dialogflow, Whisper, ElevenLabs)
• API integration experience, ideally with legal platforms or CRMs (bonus if familiar with Hoowla)
• Ability to read, interpret, and encode legal reasoning into AI workflows
• Strong understanding of data privacy, GDPR, and information security best practices
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with lawyers and non-technical staff

Desirable

• Experience working in or alongside a law firm or conveyancing practice
• Legal education or familiarity with UK property law and practice
• Experience creating secure, compliant AI tools for regulated environments
• Familiarity with vector databases and knowledge retrieval systems
