Agronomist

Objective

The primary objective of this role is to strengthen agronomic capabilities within the India by leading and supporting product trials to evaluate the effectiveness and adaptability of agricultural inputs under local conditions. The role includes building and managing research collaborations with academic and industry partners, ensuring rigorous data collection and analysis to guide strategic decisions.

Additionally, they will design and deliver tailored farmer advisory services to improve crop productivity and sustainability, with a key focus on promoting OCP Nutricrops products. This will involve farmer engagement, demonstrations, and educational initiatives to drive adoption and enhance agricultural outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

Agronomy Program Management:

• Supervise and monitor agronomy activities across 24 states.
• Lead and mentor a team of agronomists, providing technical guidance and capacity building.
• Design, coordinate, and implement agronomic trials and programs aligned with OCP's global vision and strategic objectives.
• Ensure scientific rigor, technical quality, and standardized methodologies across all programs.

Field Trials & Farmer Engagement:

• Conduct field trials to evaluate the performance of fertilizers (e.g TSP and TSP+ products) across diverse agro-climatic conditions, assessing yield, soil health, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collect real-time farmer data on crop practices, inputs, and outcomes to provide actionable advisory services.
• Organize farmer demonstrations, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote the benefits and best practices for using TSP and TSP+ products.

Collaboration & Institutional Engagement:

• Build strong partnerships with universities, research institutes, and government bodies to validate results and co-develop innovative practices.
• Strengthen institutional presence and engagement with key stakeholders and decision-makers.

Strategic Initiatives & Innovation:

• Support deployment of strategic initiatives, including the P-doctrine, 4Rs (Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time, Right Place), customization, climate action, digital agronomy, and human nutrition programs.
• Monitor and support agri-tech initiatives, including digitization of farmer databases and the use of digital tools for precision agriculture.

Talent Development:

• Mentor and develop local agronomy talent to ensure knowledge transfer, capability building, and long-term program sustainability.
