Role Overview

The Agri-Horticulture Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and supervising all agricultural and horticulture activities, including crop cultivation, farm workforce supervision, quality control, and post-harvest handling. The role also involves efficient resource utilization, timely scheduling of farming operations, and ensuring high productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

1 Agriculture & Horticulture Management

Plan and implement seasonal crop production schedules (fruits, vegetables, medicinal & ornamental plants as applicable)

Ensure proper land preparation, irrigation, pest & disease control, and crop maintenance

Develop and monitor nursery operations (sowing, propagation, transplantation)

Promote best agricultural practices including organic and sustainable farming

Maintain farm infrastructure, greenhouses, polyhouses, and irrigation systems

2 Post-Harvest & Storage Handling

Oversee harvesting procedures ensuring quality and minimal wastage

Coordinate post-harvest management including grading, sorting, packing

Manage cold storage facilities ensuring quality preservation and inventory control

Maintain records of procurement, storage levels, and supply schedules

3 People & Operational Management

Supervise and train field workers, gardeners, and support staff

Allocate daily tasks and ensure proper implementation

Monitor resource usage including seeds, fertilizers, equipment, etc.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines

4 Research & Reporting

Maintain accurate crop, yield, and operational records

Analyze productivity data and prepare periodic reports for management

Implement innovative techniques and adopt new technologies for yield improvement

Coordinate with vendors, agriculture experts, and government departments

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors / Master’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field

3–7 years of relevant experience in farm/agri-horticulture management

Knowledge of soil science, pest control, irrigation systems, and cultivation practices

Experience with post-harvest handling and cold storage management preferred

Skills Required

Strong agricultural field knowledge (fruits, vegetables, nursery, horticulture)

Knowledge of Cold Storage Operations

Ability to manage labor and coordinate field operations

Good problem-solving, planning, and time-management skills

Familiarity with farm equipment and modern agri-technologies

Basic computer literacy for reporting & documentation
