AGM/DGM OF UPSTREAM PRODUCTION

As a candidate for the mentioned position, your role will involve overseeing end-to-end upstream fermentation operations. This includes tasks such as media preparation, seed culture development, fermentation scale-up, and harvest. You will be responsible for optimizing microbial fermentation processes for high cell density and metabolite production, utilizing various microorganisms like bacteria, yeast, or fungi such as E. coli, Bacillus, Saccharomyces, and Streptomyces. It will be crucial for you to consistently achieve production targets in terms of volume, yield, quality, and timelines. In case of any process deviations, contamination, or yield drops, you will need to troubleshoot effectively. Additionally, collaboration with R&D and Tech Transfer teams will be necessary for the scale-up and commercial execution of new strains or processes. You will also play a key role in evaluating and implementing process improvements, automation, and cost-saving initiatives. Ensuring accurate documentation, including batch records, SOPs, deviation reports, and change controls, will be part of your responsibilities. Your duties will also involve ensuring that all operations comply with cGMP, regulatory, and EHS requirements. You will support regulatory audits from authorities such as USFDA, EMA, WHO, and customer inspections. Participation in investigations related to upstream activities, such as OOS/OOT and deviations, and implementation of CAPAs will be essential. In terms of team management, you will lead, mentor, and develop a team comprising production officers, operators, and shift engineers. It will be your responsibility to ensure that team members are adequately trained in fermentation operations and GMP standards. Close coordination with downstream, QA, maintenance, and warehouse functions will be necessary to ensure smooth operations.
