AGM Production

Job Purpose

To lead and control the Production, Quality and Tool Room operations of the Flat Rolled Products (FRP) division. The role ensures reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing of aluminium foils, sheets, coils and alloy-based flat rolled products, while maintaining strict process control, safety compliance, and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

- Lead end-to-end production operations for FRP (foils, sheets, coils, alloy products).

- Drive daily/weekly/monthly production targets with optimal utilisation of machines, manpower, tools and consumables.

- Ensure stable rolling, annealing, slitting and finishing operations with zero bottlenecks.

- Monitor critical KPIs: throughput, yield %, scrap %, downtime, conversion cost and energy usage.

- Ensure smooth flow of material through all production stages.

Quality Management

- Ensure products meet dimensional, mechanical, metallurgical and surface quality standards.

- Strengthen in-process inspection and end-product quality checks.

- Reduce rejections, rework and customer complaints.

- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and maintain audit compliance.

Tool Room & Die Management

- Oversee Tool Room operations including tooling maintenance, roll shop operations and calibration.

- Ensure availability and readiness of tools, rolls, fixtures and gauges.

- Improve tool life and reduce tool-related breakdowns.

- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for tool assets.

Process Excellence & Efficiency Improvement

- Reduce conversion cost through process optimisation.

- Implement Lean, Kaizen, 5S, TPM and waste minimization initiatives.

- Improve yield, stabilise process parameters and enhance equipment efficiency.

- Drive automation or digital adoption where applicable.

Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

- Ensure compliance with safety norms, legal guidelines and environmental standards.

- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, near-miss reporting.

- Maintain strong housekeeping (5S) across production and tool room areas.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

- Lead production engineers, quality engineers, tool room supervisors, shift in-charges and operators.

- Build team capability in process control, equipment operation and quality systems.

- Drive a disciplined, performance-oriented culture.

Reporting & Coordination

- Provide daily/weekly/monthly MIS on production, quality and tool room performance.

- Coordinate with Planning, SCM, Maintenance, HR and Sales teams.

- Highlight risks, capacity gaps and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production or related discipline.

- 18+ years' experience in Flat rolling or continuous manufacturing.

- Strong understanding of rolling mills, annealing furnaces, slitting/finishing lines and metallurgical processes.

- Experience leading production and quality teams in a high-volume plant.
