AGM - Procurement, 15+ yrs, Steel Industry, Ballabhgarh

Job Summary:

Responsible for end-to-end procurement of mechanical equipment, systems, and services required for steel plant projects (greenfield, brownfield, and expansion projects). This includes vendor development, strategic sourcing, cost control, technical evaluation, contract negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery in alignment with project schedules and budgets.

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  (Mandatory)

• MBA in Supply Chain (Preferred but not mandatory)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Procurement & Planning

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for mechanical packages in alignment with project timelines.
• Prepare project-specific procurement plans (PSPP) for mechanical works such as blast furnaces, rolling mills, conveyors, cranes, cooling towers, compressors, piping systems, etc.
• Monitor procurement KPIs cost, quality, delivery, and vendor performance.

2. Sourcing & Vendor Management

• Identify and qualify mechanical equipment suppliers (both domestic and international).
• Lead technical and commercial evaluations of bids in collaboration with design and engineering teams.
• Develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure capacity and price stability.

3. Commercial Negotiation & Contracting

• Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedule, LDs, warranty, and post-sales support.
• Finalize purchase orders or contracts in compliance with company policies and project specifications.
• Manage legal and financial risks associated with procurement contracts.

4. Project Coordination

• Coordinate with project management, engineering, logistics, and finance to ensure seamless execution of procurement deliverables.
• Ensure timely delivery of mechanical equipment at site and follow up on inspections, dispatches, and GRN processes.
• Proactively resolve vendor-related issues, including delays, NCRs, or quality concerns.

5. Cost Control & Budget Management

• Contribute to project cost control by value engineering and negotiating cost reductions.
• Maintain procurement within allocated project budgets without compromising quality and compliance.

6. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all procurement activities comply with ISO standards, safety norms, and internal audit requirements.
• Maintain updated procurement records including PRs, POs, vendor communications, and inspection reports.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Technical Expertise

  : Strong understanding of mechanical systems used in steel plants.

• SAP / ERP proficiency

  : Hands-on experience in procurement modules.

• Contract Management

  : Deep understanding of commercial terms, taxation (GST/customs), and international trade.

• Negotiation & Communication

  : Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and vendor meetings.
