AGM - Costing

Product & Project Costing:

• Develop and maintain accurate standard and actual costing models for defense products and capital-intensive projects.
• Prepare detailed cost sheets and estimates for tenders, bids, and RFPs/RFQs submitted to government/defense agencies (e.g., MoD, DRDO, DPSUs).
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to gather cost inputs and validate BoM, routings, and cost drivers.

Cost Control & Monitoring:

• Monitor and analyze variances between standard and actual costs (material, labor, overhead) and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement systems to track costs at the project level, including WIP tracking, milestone billing, and resource consumption.
• Support Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance metrics for large defense contracts.

Strategic Pricing & Compliance:

• Assist in preparation of pricing models for government tenders in compliance with DPP (Defense Procurement Procedure), DAP (Defense Acquisition Procedure), and applicable cost norms.
• Ensure adherence to government cost audit requirements and standards, including compliance with CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for cost audit requirements mandated under the Companies Act or as per government agencies.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Lead the preparation of cost budgets and forecasts at department, plant, and project levels.
• Perform scenario analysis and cost simulations for design changes, volume fluctuations, and make-or-buy decisions.

Cross-functional Coordination:

• Work closely with R&D, procurement, quality, and operations teams to ensure cost optimization during product development.
• Provide cost insights during new product introduction (NPI) and defense prototype programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Cost and Management Accountant (CMA/ICWA) is mandatory; CA with strong costing experience in defense may also be considered.
• 1015 years of experience in costing in the defense, aerospace, heavy engineering, or government project sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of defense procurement policies, cost-plus and fixed-price contracts, and government pricing mechanisms.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP CO module, Oracle) and costing software/tools.
