Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Accounting Manager (Direct Tax-Accounting) to join GLBL BusSvcs Tax-Bangalore -Global Finance Services Division

The incumbent would supervise and lead day-to-day work efforts of a Accounting for income taxes team to ensure monthly tax balances of legal entities across the globe are presented fairly, ensure compliance with tax accounting policies and internal controls and support tax portion of statutory audits, work with global tax teams to support Tax return of Singapore and Germany legal entities

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

What you will do

  • COE Lead: Leading the Tax COE for accounting for income taxes processes like return to provision, effective tax rate reconciliation and US GAAP provisioning process
  • High integrity financial reporting -Reviews and Guides US GAAP Legal entity closings related to Direct tax accounts for all the legal entities handled by Shared services. Responsible for fairly reflecting current tax provisions for medium to complex category legal entities.
  • Tax filing and Trusted advisor - Acts as a trusted advisor for Direct tax related queries/information request (for Income tax return filing) from Global Tax for Singapore and German entities.
  • Approval of Journal entries / Reconciliation - Approves complex reconciliations and non-recurring entries. Validates the business case for complex entries and prepare high level dashboard for management review.
  • Business knowledge -Broader understanding of various legacy and contemporary Caterpillar systems and the complex interdependencies among them, caterpillar business and internal and external customer requirements. Provides knowledge sharing sessions on caterpillar business, systems and Technical sessions on latest developments in Tax accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Management/ Corporate reporting - Reviews and coaches on various tax reporting like deferred tax workings, return to provision, effective rate calculations and information requests from corporate tax teams.
  • Alignment of Team goals - Creates and maintains a workforce that lives by the Caterpillar Values. Sets appropriate goals for functions in scope that are aligned with Caterpillar s strategy and vision.
  • Managing and Motivating team - Supervises a team and their related workload, prioritizes projects, assigns and reviews work, and participates in employee selection process. Evaluates and reports on staff performance, promotes team rewards and successes and provides career guidance to team members. Provides technical guidance and expertise on highly complex accounting issues to other legal entity accountants and management. Communicates a clear and compelling vision and motivate others in the organization to exceed and excel.
  • Leverages technology - Advocates latest technical tools like AI agents, data analytics, tableau and robotics to develop world class accounting and reporting processes and that transactions and systems are cost effective.
  • Process improvement projects -Leads/participates in regional and global projects.
  • Global Tax Support - Reporting for benefits under International Enterprise Singapore, Board of Investment, Thailand and MoU signed with the State Governments in India.
  • Good in communication, executive presence, should have had led teams constituting more than 10 professionally qualified people, Ready to work all 5 days from office and put additional time during month close activities.

What you will have

  • Qualified CA with 10 to 12 plus years of experience (Post Qualification) in accounting and taxation.
  • Specialisation in US GAAP additional advantage
  • Should have excellent communication skills
  • This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the office

Accounting : Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
Level Basic Understanding: Lists the major responsibilities of the accounting staff. Explains the basic concepts and terminology of accounting. Describes key activities of established accounting processes. Identifies the basic tools used for maintaining accounting information. Accounts Payable (A-P): Knowledge of an organizations billing requirements; ability to utilize the proper tools and follow accounts payable practices and procedures.
Level Basic Understanding: Explains the basic concepts of accounts payable. Summarizes basic accounts payable reports. Initiates major types of accounts payable transactions. Describes the basic steps and tools for maintaining accounts payable information.
