About the Role:


We’re looking for an experienced 3D Game Rigging Artist to join our team for a mobile game project developed in Unity. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in creating custom rigs from scratch, advanced skinning for multiple clothing items, animation retargeting in Maya and Unity, and exporting rigs and animations in GLTF and USDZ formats. You’ll work closely with the modeling, animation, and technical teams to build rigs that are optimized for mobile performance while maintaining high-quality deformation and flexibility.


Responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom character rigs from scratch for stylized and realistic mobile game characters.

• Build advanced control rigs that support animator-friendly workflows.

• Perform high-quality skinning and weighting for multiple clothing items and accessories, supporting character customization.

• Implement and manage animation retargeting pipelines in Maya and Unity (mandatory).

• Optimize rigs for real-time performance on mobile platforms.

• Collaborate with modelers, animators, and technical artists to ensure a smooth pipeline from rigging to in-game implementation.

• Troubleshoot rigging, deformation, and retargeting issues effectively.

• Export rigs and animations in GLTF and USDZ formats for testing and integration.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in 3D character rigging for games.

• Proven experience in rigging for mobile games using Unity.

• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya rigging tools and workflows.

• Expertise in animation retargeting in both Maya and Unity.

• Deep understanding of character deformation, topology, and skin weighting.

• Proven ability to create custom rigging systems (not based on prebuilt templates).

• Experience in facial rigging for stylized or semi-realistic characters.

• Experience exporting rigs and animations in GLTF and USDZ formats.

• Knowledge of runtime character customization systems (swappable parts, modular setups, etc.).

• Strong grasp of rig optimization for mobile and real-time environments.

• Familiarity with Python or MEL scripting for automation and rigging tools.
