**Job Description:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3D Game Apparel Designer with 3-4 years of dedicated experience in Marvellous Designer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end digital garment development process for game characters, from initial concept to high-quality, game-ready assets, primarily utilising Marvellous Designer. This is a contractual position that offers the opportunity to contribute to exciting and visually rich game projects.

**Responsibilities:**

* Translate 2D character concepts, costume designs, and art direction into accurate and visually compelling 3D garment prototypes within Marvellous Designer.

* Create and manipulate 3D patterns, ensuring proper fit, drape, and realistic cloth simulation for various character types and poses.

* Develop and apply realistic fabric textures, materials, and details within Marvellous Designer, optimising them for game engine performance and visual fidelity.

* Collaborate closely with character artists, animators, and technical artists to ensure garments integrate seamlessly with character models and animations.

* Prepare and export clean, optimised 3D garment meshes for further processing in other 3D software (e.g., ZBrush, Maya, Blender) for retopology, UV mapping, and texturing.

* Iterate on designs based on feedback from art directors and project leads, maintaining artistic vision and technical requirements.

* Stay up-to-date with the latest Marvellous Designer features, industry trends in game art, and cloth simulation technologies.

* Manage project timelines and deliver high-quality, game-ready assets within agreed-upon deadlines.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

* 3-4 years of demonstrable professional experience specifically using Marvellous Designer for game character clothing and apparel.

* Expert-level proficiency in all aspects of Marvellous Designer software, including pattern drafting, avatar manipulation, fabric simulation, and animation for game assets.

* Strong understanding of garment construction, realistic cloth physics, and how these translate into game assets.

* Solid understanding of game development pipelines and asset optimisation for real-time engines.

* Proficiency in 3D modelling software (e.g., ZBrush, Maya, Blender) for retopology, UV mapping, and final mesh preparation.

* Experience with texturing software (e.g., Substance Painter, Substance Designer) is a strong plus.

* Excellent eye for detail, proportion, and artistic aesthetics relevant to game character design.

* Strong communication and collaboration skills.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* A strong portfolio showcasing Marvellous Designer work for game characters, including diverse garment types and a clear breakdown of your process.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and understanding of material setup.

* Knowledge of traditional garment pattern making.

* Experience in a fast-paced game development environment.
