WordPress Technical Lead (Full remote, India based role)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced WordPress Tech Lead to architect, develop, and lead the delivery of cutting-edge WordPress-based web solutions. The ideal candidate will be a technical authority, guiding a distributed team of developers, ensuring high-quality code, and driving scalable, secure, and performance-optimized websites. This role requires deep expertise in WordPress development, strong leadership, and the ability to work remotely with global teams.

• Technical Leadership

  : Lead the technical execution of WordPress projects, providing architectural guidance and ensuring adherence to best practices (Agile, version control, CI/CD).

• Development

  : Design and develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks, integrating with RESTful APIs and third-party services.

• Team Management

  : Mentor and manage a team of WordPress developers, conducting code reviews, task prioritization, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

• Performance Optimization

  : Debug and optimize websites for performance, scalability, and perfect Lighthouse scores, ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.

• Project Planning

  : Collaborate with product managers, designers, and DevOps to plan, estimate, and deliver projects aligned with high-level roadmaps.

• Innovation

  : Research and implement new technologies, tools, and methods to advance web offerings, including headless CMS or JAMstack architectures.

• Quality Assurance

  : Ensure site stability, security, and compliance with SEO, accessibility, and web performance standards.

• Crisis Management

  : Act as the “developer of last resort” to resolve complex technical issues, including production bugs and site crashes.

• Experience

  : Minimum 7+ years of professional WordPress development experience, with at least 3–5 years in a technical leadership role.

• Core WordPress Expertise

  :
• Advanced proficiency in PHP, WordPress API (including REST), ACF, and Gutenberg block development.
• Experience building and implementing custom themes and plugins.
• Expertise in connecting WordPress to third-party services via APIs.

• Frontend Development

  :
• Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, and JavaScript (vanilla, jQuery, AJAX).
• Familiarity with CSS frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind.

• Backend Development

  :
• Knowledge of MVC/OOP principles and PHP frameworks.
• Experience with SQL and database optimization.

• Tools and Workflows

  :
• Proficiency in Git (merging, rebasing, conflict resolution) and ticketing tools like JIRA.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Linux command-line workflows.

• Bonus Skills

  :
• Experience with headless commerce, JAMstack, or multi-currency/language setups.
• Knowledge of server-side development (Node.js, Next.js) or analytics tools.
• Familiarity with Shopify or other CMS platforms like Contentful.
