Windows Server Engineer

WINDOWS SERVER ENGINEER

The Windows Server L2 Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based server infrastructure. This role handles escalated issues from L1 support, ensures system availability, performance, and security, and supports day-to-day server operations in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Server Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022)
• Manage Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy (GPO)
• Perform server provisioning, lifecycle management Incident & Problem Management
• Handle L2 escalations from L1 support
• Troubleshoot server performance, login, replication, and service issues
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and provide permanent fixes

Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor server health, uptime, and performance
• Apply Windows updates, patches, and security fixes
• Schedule and perform routine maintenance activities

Backup & Recovery

• Manage backup and restore operations
• Test disaster recovery (DR) procedures
• Ensure data integrity and business continuity

Security & Compliance

• Implement server hardening and security best practices
• Manage user access, permissions, and audit policies
• Support compliance requirements (ISO, SOC, internal audits, etc.)

Virtualization & Infrastructure

• Support VMware / Hyper-V virtual machines
• Work with storage and network teams for infrastructure-related issues

• Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation
• Prepare incident, change, and maintenance reports

Collaboration

• Coordinate with L1, L3 teams, vendors, and application teams
• Participate in change management and on-call support rotations
