welding manager Position Summary: The Welding Manager is responsible for overseeing all welding operations within the steel fabrication facility. This includes managing welding personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, coordinating with other departments, and driving efficiency in production processes. The Welding Manager will lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with industry codes and customer specifications. Key Responsibilities: Team Management: Supervise, train, and develop welders and welding supervisors. Assign workloads and manage shift schedules to meet project deadlines. Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary. Welding Operations: Oversee all welding activities, ensuring optimal productivity and quality. Review blueprints, specifications, and welding procedures (WPS/PQR). Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, and other applicable welding codes. Monitor welding parameters and procedures for consistency and accuracy. Quality Control & Compliance: Work closely with the quality assurance/control team to ensure welds meet specifications. Lead internal audits and prepare for third-party inspections. Ensure proper documentation and traceability of welding procedures and personnel qualifications. Health & Safety: Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards. Promote a culture of safety and ensure the proper use of PPE and equipment. Investigate welding-related incidents and implement corrective actions. Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Project Management to coordinate workflow. Forecast labor and material needs for welding operations. Contribute to project planning and estimation as needed. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction. Implement lean manufacturing and 5S principles in the welding department. Stay updated with new welding technologies and techniques.
