Welding Engineer

Job Description

Develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in accordance with ASME Section IX and EN ISO 15614-1, ensuring alignment with project and code requirements; coordinate with clients for review and approval. Plan and execute welder and welding operator qualifications in line with ASME Section IX, ISO 9606-1, and EN ISO 14732, including client witnessing and approval processes. Respond to technical queries related to welding during the enquiry/sales stage, providing input for feasibility assessments and cost estimation. Estimate welding consumables based on project specifications, drawings, and welding process requirements. Identify, assess, and qualify vendors/suppliers of welding consumables to ensure quality and compliance with applicable standards. Conduct regular audits of shop floor activities to verify compliance with approved welding procedures and ensure only qualified welders are deployed. Develop repair procedures for fabrication defects, ensuring adherence to code and client requirements. Perform root cause analysis for RT/UT failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Conduct training sessions for shop supervisors and welders on welding codes, standards, and practices; promote multi-skilling through training in multiple welding processes. Show more Show less
