Web Developer – Role & Task Sheet (Minimum 2 Years Experience)

Role Overview

The Web Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing websites primarily on WordPress and Shopify platforms. The role requires strong knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, MySQL, and the ability to adopt AI tools for faster development, automation, and skill enhancement. The person should be a self-learner, capable of researching solutions independently and improving workflows.

Core Responsibilities

1. Website Development

• Develop responsive and high-performance websites using WordPress and Shopify.
• Create custom themes, templates, and layouts as per brand/style guidelines.
• Integrate and customize plugins, apps, or third-party services.
• Build landing pages, product pages, blog pages, and UI elements.

2. WordPress-Specific Tasks

• Custom theme modification using PHP, HTML, and CSS.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot plugins.
• Implement page builders (Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg).
• Optimize WordPress for speed (caching, compression, image optimization).
• Fix WordPress errors, bugs, and database-related issues.

3. Shopify-Specific Tasks

• Customize Shopify Themes (Liquid coding experience preferred).
• Manage product listings, collections, metafields, and dynamic sections.
• Install/configure Shopify apps and troubleshoot theme conflicts.
• Improve page performance and storefront UI/UX.

4. Technical Web Development

• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code using:
• HTML5
• JavaScript (ES6+)
• AJAX
• PHP
• MySQL (CRUD operations, database structure understanding)
• Debug, test, and resolve frontend & backend issues.
• Implement secure coding practices and data validations.

5. AI Utilization & Automation

• Use AI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, etc.) for:
• Faster code generation & optimization
• Troubleshooting and debugging
• Creating documentation
• Learning new frameworks/tech skills
• Improving development speed and accuracy
• Stay updated with new AI workflows that improve productivity.

6. Website Optimization

• Implement SEO-friendly development practices.
• Reduce page load time through technical optimization.
• Ensure websites are mobile-friendly and responsive across devices.
• Monitor website performance using tools like GTmetrix, Google PageSpeed, Search Console.

7. Maintenance & Updates

• Regularly update themes, plugins, and core files.
• Backup and restore websites when needed.
• Solve hosting, domain, SSL, and DNS-related issues.
• Security monitoring and malware removal assistance.

Daily & Weekly Tasks

Daily Tasks

• Work on assigned website development tasks.
• Debug and resolve website or functionality issues.
• Update progress on project management tools (e.g., Trello/Asana).
• Optimize ongoing pages for speed and SEO.
• Use AI for coding help, research, and automation.

Weekly Tasks

• Complete new features, pages, or modules.
• Review code and ensure clean coding standards.
• Test website functionality across browsers/devices.
• Update all plugins, themes, and check site health.
• Explore new tools/techniques for skill improvement.

Key Skills Required

• WordPress (themes, plugins, builders, PHP-based customization)
• Shopify (theme modification, Liquid, app integrations)
• HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• AJAX for asynchronous requests
• PHP & MySQL for backend logic
• Basic understanding of APIs and third-party integrations
• AI Tools (ChatGPT, Midjourney prompts, debugging automation)
• Problem-solving & self-learning attitude

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
