Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain ADABAS databases on z/OS or other supported platforms.
Perform database tuning, monitoring, and optimization to ensure performance and reliability.
Manage database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
Support application teams with data modelling, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and audit procedures.
Monitor and resolve issues related to database performance, space management, and data integrity.
Coordinate with system programmers and application developers for upgrades and patching.
Maintain documentation for database configurations, standards, and procedures.
Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
Provide on-call support and incident resolution for production environments.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
5+ years of experience as an ADABAS DBA in enterprise environments.
Strong knowledge of ADABAS, Natural, and related tools (Predict, EntireX, etc.).
Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe utilities.
Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting ADABAS databases.
Familiarity with data migration, replication, and archival strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Software AG tools and environments.
Exposure to modernization projects involving ADABAS to RDBMS or cloud platforms.
Knowledge of COBOL and integration with ADABAS/Natural applications.
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., telecom) is a plus.
