Job Description

Responsibilities

Process employee payroll in full compliance with UK payroll legislation and internal company policies.
Accurately calculate and deduct taxes, National Insurance contributions, and other statutory deductions.
Manage new employee onboarding, including completion and interpretation of starter checklists and data entry into client payroll software.
Administer statutory payments such as Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), and student loan deductions.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of key payroll forms including P32, P45, P60, P11D, and current UK tax codes.
Submit FPS, EPS, and pension contributions to HMRC and relevant authorities.
Advise clients on HMRC liabilities such as PAYE, National Insurance, and CIS, and provide instructions for payment.
Set up employers and employees within payroll systems during new client onboarding.
Configure employer and employee data during payroll software migrations in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
Address and resolve payroll queries promptly and accurately.
Stay up to date with changes in UK payroll regulations to ensure full compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

UK payroll certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Prior experience in a UK payroll role is essential.
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, statutory payments, and pension regulations.
Proficiency in payroll software such as Xero, Intuit, Sage, BrightPay, or similar platforms.
