We are hiring a Ubuntu Security Engineer to join an industry leading software security team, and help protect the open source community and Ubuntu users from emerging threats. As part of the Ubuntu team, you will work with the best and brightest people in technology to monitor, triage, respond to and document new and existing vulnerabilities in open source software. The role will involve collaboration with internal teams and external partners, to identify and prioritize issues and track progress. The role can also include a number of other activities, including security assessment and code review, internal tooling developments, community engagement, security hardening and feature development and industry collaboration participation. Key Responsibilities Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu) Support daily system monitoring and health checks Perform user management and basic access control tasks Apply updates, patches, and basic troubleshooting under senior guidance Create and maintain documentation related to configurations and procedures Help in automating routine tasks using shell scripts Support incident and change management processes Required Skills Basic knowledge of Linux OS and command-line tools Hands-on experience with file systems, permissions, and package management Familiarity with services like Apache/Nginx, SSH, FTP, and DNS Understanding of basic networking and security concepts Scripting skills in Bash (basic level) Good understanding of system logs and troubleshooting techniques Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or pursuing) Internship or academic project experience with Linux systems Linux certification (RHCSA or similar) is a plus Soft Skills Eagerness to learn and improve technical skills Team player with good communication skills Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹350,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year Benefits: Flexible schedule Work Location: In person
