Transport Supervisor

Role & responsibilities

Supervise daily transport operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of vehicles.

Monitor driver performance, attendance, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and availability.

Ensure vehicles are properly inspected, documented, and maintained in accordance with safety standards.

Manage subcontractors and third-party transport services to meet service-level agreements.

Track fuel usage, mileage, and operating costs to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses.

Resolve operational and mechanical issues quickly to minimize downtime and service disruptions.

Maintain accurate records of trips, maintenance, and compliance reports.

Liaise with clients and internal departments to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Provide training, guidance, and support to drivers to improve performance and service quality.

Analyze transport data and prepare reports for management to support decision-making.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the transport control room, ensuring smooth coordination of fleet activities.

Monitor vehicle movements in real-time using GPS/transport management systems to ensure timely operations.

Manage driver deployment, trip allocations, and shift schedules to optimize resource utilization.

Respond promptly to route disruptions, emergencies, or breakdowns, providing alternative arrangements.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and legal transport requirements.

Coordinate with maintenance teams to address vehicle breakdowns and schedule preventive maintenance.

Maintain accurate records of trips, incidents, delays, and operational reports for management review.

Act as the key communication link between drivers, clients, and management, ensuring quick resolution of issues.

Monitor performance KPIs (fuel efficiency, route adherence, on-time performance) and implement improvement measures.

Train and supervise control room staff to handle operations efficiently and maintain high service standards.

Manage communication systems (radios, GPS tracking, transport software) to ensure effective monitoring and coordination.

Lead emergency response actions in case of accidents, natural disruptions, or operational crises.
