Transport Manager

Position Summary

The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing all transportation and logistics operations for the zinc manufacturing plant in Faridabad. This includes managing inbound raw material movement, outbound dispatch of finished products, vehicle fleet management, vendor coordination, route optimization, cost control, statutory compliance, and ensuring timely, safe, and efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transportation & Logistics Management

• Plan, manage, and coordinate transportation of raw materials (e.g., zinc ore, chemicals) and finished zinc products.
  
• Optimize routes and scheduling to ensure timely deliveries.
  
• Maintain daily dispatch planning, vehicle scheduling, and monitoring.
  
• Oversee loading/unloading operations and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  

2. Fleet & Vendor Management

• Manage company-owned vehicles as well as third-party logistics partners.
  
• Evaluate, negotiate, and finalize contracts with transporters.
  
• Monitor vehicle condition, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and breakdown management.
  
• Develop strong relationships with transport agencies and local authorities.
  

3. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with all transportation laws, RTO norms, pollution certificates, and driver licensing requirements.
  
• Maintain documentation such as e-way bills, LR (Lorry Receipts), invoices, and dispatch records.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards specific to chemical and metal manufacturing.
  

4. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Prepare and monitor transportation budgets.
  
• Control and reduce logistics costs through vendor negotiation, route optimization, and fleet efficiency improvements.
  
• Reduce demurrage, detention, and transit claims.
  

5. Team Leadership

• Supervise drivers, dispatch supervisors, logistics assistants, and loading staff.
  
• Conduct training on safety, defensive driving, and compliance procedures.
  
• Ensure discipline and high performance across all transport staff.
  

6. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with the production, sales, stores, and procurement departments for smooth supply chain operations.
  
• Coordinate with customers for delivery schedules and updating dispatch status.
  
• Handle transport-related customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  
• 5–12 years of experience in transport/logistics management (preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry).
  
• Experience handling bulk materials, hazardous chemicals, or metal industry logistics is an advantage.
  
• Strong knowledge of vehicle operations, transport regulations, and fleet management.
