Job Description

1. Role Overview

The TGT Social Science teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across History, Geography, Civics, and Economics for Grades 6–10. The role involves promoting conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and real-world application through innovative and engaging teaching practices.

2. Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery

  • Teach Social Science subjects (History, Geography, Civics, Economics) for Grades 6–10 as per CBSE guidelines.

  • Plan and deliver engaging lesson plans with differentiated instructional strategies.

  • Integrate experiential learning, discussions, debates, and project-based activities.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Prepare question papers, worksheets, rubrics, and formative assessments.

  • Conduct periodic assessments and maintain detailed student performance records.

  • Provide constructive feedback and remediation for students needing support.

Classroom Management

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.

  • Foster respect, teamwork, cultural awareness, and social responsibility.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in academic planning meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

  • Collaborate with peers to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the curriculum.

  • Support school events, exhibitions, competitions, and social science–related activities.

  • Maintain communication with parents and provide timely updates on student progress.

3. Skills & Competencies

  • Strong subject knowledge across all Social Science disciplines.

  • Proficiency in creating engaging teaching materials and digital content.

  • Ability to integrate ICT tools (PPTs, digital maps, videos, simulations).

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Classroom management and student engagement skills.

  • Ability to cater to diverse learning styles and cognitive levels.

  • Ability to contribute to school committees, clubs, and interdisciplinary initiatives.

Requirements
- Teach History, Geography, Civics, and Economics to middle-grade students.

- Prepare lesson plans aligned with CBSE curriculum.

- Conduct assessments and track student progress.

- Use creative teaching methods, discussions, and project-based learning.

- Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Social Sciences.

- B. Ed is mandatory.

- Minimum 2–4 years of TGT teaching experience.
