Test Architect

Role Overview: As a visionary and strategic Test Architect at our company, you will play a crucial role in defining and driving the quality engineering strategy and testing architecture across our entire software portfolio. Your main responsibility will be to create a vision, frameworks, tools, and processes that empower our development teams to build and release high-quality software with confidence and velocity. This senior, hands-on role focuses on establishing modern, automated testing practices and fostering a culture of quality throughout the engineering organization. Key Responsibilities: - Define and own the end-to-end Test Automation Strategy and Roadmap, covering unit, integration, end-to-end (E2E), API, performance, and security testing phases. - Architect, design, and lead the development of scalable, reusable, and maintainable test automation frameworks and libraries for use by development teams. - Establish and govern automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines) to enable a "shift-left" approach to quality and provide fast feedback to developers. - Lead the strategy for non-functional testing, including selecting tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust, k6) and designing performance, load, and scalability testing plans. - Design and implement a robust strategy for test data management to ensure teams have reliable, secure, and easily refreshable data for testing. - Define and implement key quality metrics (KPIs) and dashboards to provide visibility into test coverage, pass/fail rates, and overall product quality. - Act as the primary subject matter expert and mentor for quality engineering, guiding teams on best practices, tool adoption, and advanced testing techniques. Qualifications Required: - 12+ years of experience in software quality engineering (SDET, QE), with at least 4+ years in a Test Architect, Principal SDET, or equivalent senior technical leadership role. - Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing scalable test automation frameworks for UI, API, and backend services. - Strong programming skills in relevant languages such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Python. - Proficiency in modern UI test automation tools like Playwright, Cypress, API testing tools like Postman, REST Assured, and performance testing tools like JMeter, Locust, k6. - Deep expertise in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, particularly with Azure Pipelines, and understanding of build, deployment, and release processes. - Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and testing applications in containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes. - Exceptional leadership skills to influence without authority, articulate a clear technical vision, and drive consensus across multiple engineering teams.
