Technical Service Specialist-Building and Construction

Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job:

The Technical Service Specialist- Building and Construction will aim to advance our technical service initiatives in the Building and Construction sectors in line with the Paints and Coatings strategy, project and RD&I functional standards. The successful candidate will be a focal point for technical support for customers and the lab, explore innovative application developments within the industry and provide support to refine our application research techniques. The successful candidate is expected to execute application development tasks aligned with the sales and R&D function and global strategy. The role will perform formulation work and ensure all technical service tasks are completed accurately and on time.

About The Job (Job Responsibilities):

• Maintain and promote a safe work environment, comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Follow safe work practices for personal equipment safety, in both laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.
• Plan, perform and prioritize experimental work, interpret and report results.
• Provide possible solutions to problems related to products and processes.
• Support sales organization and customers with technical services and customer visits.
• Prepare and make presentations at internal and external events/conferences.
• Design experiments and develop new methods as needed.
• Effectively interact with internal and external customers and distributors as well as counterparts at other Nouryon locations.
• Maintain and develop expertise in core technology and experimental procedures.
• Maintain application testing equipment and the application lab suitable for the technical service needs.
• Identify new product and technical solutions and new application opportunities for own area/domain and share these with management.
• Formulate and present possible solution directions and issue advice at request or at own initiative.

We believe you bring (Education & Experience)

• A graduate chemical technologist or chemistry post graduate or similar discipline required.
• 8-10 years’ experience in Building and Construction application of dry mix mortars such as skim coat, tile adhesives and plasters and other construction applications.
• Experience with formulation/product development.
• Understanding of various standards, techniques, methodologies and tools.
• Ability to develop and implement new solutions.
• Strong written and technical communication skills.
• Ability to collect and analyse data.
• Ability to keep up to date on current trends.
• Ability to translate customer needs preferred
• Product knowledge.
