Job Description

Role Overview: You will be responsible for managing PostgreSQL database administration and performance tuning, including end-to-end database migrations from on-premises to public cloud, preferably GCP. Additionally, you will lead migrations, develop stored procedures, ensure high availability, and handle backup and recovery tasks. Your primary core competency will be PostgreSQL, with secondary expertise in Oracle and SQL databases. You will also troubleshoot complex performance issues and investigate database-related incidents. Key Responsibilities: - Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration and management - Lead end-to-end database migrations from on-premises to public cloud, preferably GCP, and share knowledge with team members - Proficient in PostgreSQL database performance tuning - Perform heterogeneous migrations (from Oracle to PostgreSQL/SQL to PostgreSQL) - Develop stored procedures, implement load balancing, and ensure high availability - Proficient in backup and recovery in Community and EDB PostgreSQL - Understand database design, performance tuning, and optimization techniques - Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance problems - Manage operations on core and cloud-based infrastructures - Investigate and troubleshoot database-related issues, such as connectivity problems, performance degradation, and data inconsistencies - Provide timely resolution and root cause analysis for incidents - Generate comprehensive documentation to support database issues arising from customer queries - Good knowledge of EDB database tools like Barman, EFM, etc. Qualifications Required: - Significant background in creating complex stored procedures and SQL scripts in PostgreSQL - Understanding of database normalization concepts - Proven experience with SQL and PostgreSQL - Experience in designing and automating repetitive processes - Familiarity with cloud-based database services (Google Cloud SQL, Azure database, AWS RDS) - Proficiency in scripting languages - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Effective communication and collaboration abilities - Experience working with or in an automated operations environment (like Ansible) - Hands-on experience with various PostgreSQL tools like EFM, MTK (Migration Tool Kit), and Barman (Note: The additional details of the company have been omitted as they were not explicitly mentioned in the job description),
