Role &Responsibility
Responsible to lead business analysis functions formedium to large-scale projects and enhancements. Formulates and definessystem scope and objectives based on user needs, a thorough understanding ofapplicable business systems, and industry best practices. Creates or modifiesprocesses and procedures to solve problems, considering technical feasibilityand desired results.
This role works closely with vendor partners, teammembers, business and IT leaders to elicit and document business needs andrequirements.
A candidate for this position must be aself-starter and able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment as part of aservice delivery function for client
Essential Job Functions:
1. Responsible to leadbusiness requirements gathering for projects and enhancements.
2. Responsible formanaging and facilitating communications between IT teams, business, andvendors.
3. Assists informulating and designing system scope and objectives based on user needs andthorough understanding of business processes.
4. Identifies,evaluates, and recommends potential solution options, supports the resolutionvia projects and enhancements through to production deployment.
5. Performsoperational support activities to triage and research production supportissues, advocates for business users, and manage resolution of productiondefects through to production deployment.
6. Provides subjectmatter expertise and guidance to project team members concerning P&Cinsurance and system implementations.
7. Relies onexperience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Participates in the full software development life cycle (SDLC). a. Collects anddefines requirements
b. Translates intofunctional design documents
c. Participates intechnical design
d. Participates intest planning and may coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
e. Supports executionof both QA and UAT phases
f. Participatesin user documentation processes
g. Assists withtraining users on new or enhanced applications
h. Supports Go Liveactivities including production smoke testing and post Go Live activities
9. Participates inoperational support turnover activities including creation of Quick ReferenceGuides, Standard Operating Procedures, and other job aids as applicable.
Requirements
TechnicalExperience
1. Experiencein working with legacy systems. Skilled in analyzing legacy systems. Preparingtraining and guide documentation for a legacy system a plus.
CommunicationSkills
1. Strongwritten and communication skills to effectively communicate complexunderwriting concepts to various stakeholders, including underwriters,actuaries, and management.
TechnicalWriting Skills
1. Abilityto research and gather information about software and translate thatinformation into technical training guides for other business analysts,solution architects and developers.
2. Knowledgeof instructional design principles to structure the training materialseffectively, including defining learning objectives, organizing contentlogically and creating engaging exercises and examples.
OtherFunctions:
1. Complieswith proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/orcarry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at the Company.
2. Performspecial projects and other duties as may be assigned.
3. Establishesand builds strong working relations and partnerships with Business Units andSenior Management.
Qualifications:
- BachelorDegree preferred (preferably in MIS, IT, or Business)
- 8-10 yearsexperience preferred
- E xcellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience writing business requirements and functional specs
- Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC
- Experience with UI/design specs/wireframes
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)
- Knowledge of UML and BPMN
- Knowledge of activities, tasks, practices and deliverables associated with eliciting and clearly defining and documenting required business functionality as we'll as non-functional requirements
- Knowledge of formal methodologies for planning and executing application development, enhancement, or support
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for design, development, and support of Client/Server applications
- Ability to write business requirements and functional specifications
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation (responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate).
- Strong interpersonal relationship building skills: able to work with a variety of people and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
- Strong analytical ability with the capability to determine the root cause of problems and issues and provide solutions.
