As a Tax Compliance Specialist, your role will involve managing various tax-related tasks to ensure compliance and efficiency in the organization's tax operations. Your responsibilities will include: - **Tax Certificate Management:** - Review, validate, and maintain tax exemption certificates to meet regulatory standards. - Keep certificate records updated in Avalara and internal databases. - Proactively monitor certificate expiration dates and manage renewals to avoid compliance lapses. - **Tax Refunds & Credit Memo Processing:** - Coordinate and process tax refunds and credit memos accurately and timely, reconciling with the accounting team. - Maintain detailed records of tax refunds and credit memos in compliance with regulations. - **Utilization of Avalara:** - Operate Avalara tools for tax automation and certificate management. - Analyze sales and use tax reports using Avalara to identify discrepancies and improve processes. - Optimize tax-related workflows through Avalara integrations with ERP systems. - **Tax Compliance & Reporting:** - Ensure all tax processes align with current tax laws and regulations. - Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and Customer Service teams to address tax issues and update processes accordingly. **Required Qualifications:** - **Experience:** - Proven background in managing tax certificates and ensuring sales tax compliance. - Expertise in utilizing Avalara for tax automation and certificate management. - **Technical Skills:** - Solid understanding of sales and use tax laws across different states. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus. - **Personal Competencies:** - Attention to Detail: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in handling sensitive tax data. - Problem-Solving: Utilize strong analytical skills to identify and resolve tax discrepancies promptly. - Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across various departments. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate tax documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing tax processes for operational efficiency.
