Job Description

Role Overview: As a Tax & Compliance Specialist - Sales & Use Tax, your main responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and filing multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns. You will manage a select group of customers, research and resolve jurisdictional notices on behalf of customers, and identify ways to improve automation to enhance customer service. Working closely with clients from diverse industries, you will focus on continuous process improvements and automation initiatives to ensure efficient and accurate tax compliance operations. Additionally, you will collaborate with onsite teams and stakeholders in the US to address compliance issues or changes in tax regulations. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare, review, and file multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns - Manage a select group of customers as their primary point of contact - Research and resolve jurisdictional notices on behalf of customers - On-board and validate new sales/use tax returns customers - Identify and improve automation to serve customers across various market and tax verticals - Communicate regularly and effectively with customers, jurisdictions, and internal teams - Perform QA related to sales and use tax content and form changes - Manage workload to meet deadlines effectively - Identify ways to improve processes and technology for better customer service - Work collaboratively with all staff members and management - Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at system improvements or process changes Qualification Required: - Strong Technical Expertise & Understanding of processes in Sales & Use Tax Domain - Experience working with POA for Clients, Managing End to end Notices, and Exemption Certificates - Interaction with Clients, state authorities & jurisdictions, and independently leading jurisdiction calls - Minimum of 8+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a master's degree, or equivalent work experience - Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently and as a team player - Prioritization and multi-tasking skills to meet strict filing deadlines - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (functions like power pivot, VLOOKUP, hlookup, etc.) - Availability during standard US business hours (6.00 pm to 3.00 am) - Eligibility for Occasional US Travel (2-3 Times Annually) - Openness to working from the Pune office 5 days a week Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced degree in accounting or finance - Experience with a Big 4 firm, large corporate tax department of a multinational company, or large ERP integration - Attendance at tax conferences (Good to have),
