Job Description

1. Food Preparation Support:Assist in the preparation of ingredients for tandoor and shawarma items, including cutting, marinating, and seasoning meat, poultry, and vegetables. Prepare naan dough, roti, and other tandoori bread under the supervision of the Tandoor Cook. Set up necessary ingredients like sauces, salads, pickles, and garnishes for serving. 2. Cooking Assistance:Assist the Tandoor Cook in loading and unloading items from the tandoor oven, ensuring proper handling of skewers, breads, and meats. Support the Shawarma Cook in monitoring and slicing meat from the shawarma rotisserie. Help with the assembly and presentation of tandoori dishes, shawarma wraps, and plates for customer orders. 3. Cleaning and Hygiene:Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including all cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment (tandoor, shawarma rotisserie, grills, etc.). Wash and sanitize cooking tools and food preparation areas regularly. Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handling and storage of raw meats, vegetables, and cooked food. 4. Stock Management:Assist in checking stock levels for meat, spices, sauces, and other ingredients used for tandoor and shawarma items. Help receive and store deliveries of kitchen supplies. Inform the head chef or supervisor when stock levels are low or when supplies need to be reordered. 5. Team Support and Coordination:Work closely with the Tandoor and Shawarma Cooks, helping with tasks that ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during busy periods. Assist other kitchen staff when needed, including prepping food for other stations or helping with inventory checks. Follow directions from the head chef or cook regarding preparation, cooking methods, and timing. 6. Customer Service (if applicable):Help pack takeaway orders and prepare food for delivery. Assist with serving dishes when necessary, ensuring customers receive their orders promptly and with proper garnishing. Skills & Qualifications:Experience: Prior experience in a kitchen setting, particularly in a tandoor or shawarma preparation environment, Knowledge: Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food preparation. Teamwork: Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to assist and coordinate with kitchen staff.
