THE OPPORTUNITY
We count on our IT team to work in close alignment with all internal business units to provide excellent IT support and solutions to our global user community and on-site support in the Bengaluru office. As the IT Systems Engineer for Xactly, you will be part of a team of three that are responsible for Xactly s infrastructure environments including but not limited to, system administration, cloud administration, network administration, automation, patching and maintenance of infrastructure. You will be the primary POC for all the India based Infrastructure ensuring 24X7 uptime for Cloud systems, local network and VPN portals during IST hours. It is critical that this person is proactive in their troubleshooting methods and is an excellent communicator with the other engineers on the team including the team based in Denver, CO USA. You will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related corporate infrastructure. In addition, you will provide overlap support for local servers and clients to the system administrators.


The technology landscape is evolving, and the person in this role participates in technical research and development to enable innovation. This person will work closely with other administrators on the Infrastructure team to ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to the Vision of Xactly as set out by the VP of IT and the IT Manager. You may also take on projects and be responsible for all phases, including definition, analysis, design, build, testing and change management. 7+ years of experience in the following:
Windows Server / Active Directory environment administration

  • ADUC

  • ADCS

  • Server Manager Roles/Features

  • DNS

  • Group Policy

Linux Administration

  • RHEL (and flavors of RHEL, we use Rocky)

  • Linux coreutils

  • Ansible

  • FreeRADIUS

  • BIND

  • bash

AWS

  • EC2

  • S3

  • EFS

Networking/Computing Concepts

  • Firewall appliances (Palo Alto)

  • Switching appliances (Juniper/Cisco)

  • Layer 3 Networking

  • RADIUS, Kerberos, LDAP

  • BGP, IPSec

Worked in a corporate IT environment (as opposed to something like devops)

Experience working in Data Centers/IT Closets working with physical hardware

  • Racking

  • Cable Management

  • Hardware RMAs

Office equipment (Wi-Fi access points, Security cameras)

Not afraid to get on a ladder
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with India and US IT teams
Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, with a high degree of personal integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Network & Cloud Architecture (AWS, Palo Alto, Meraki, Cisco, Juniper):
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient network architectures within AWS cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and security. Administer and engineer solutions involving Palo Alto (PA) firewalls, Meraki network appliances (virtual/wireless), Cisco networking devices, and Juniper OS-based systems. Serve as a subject matter expert for network infrastructure, driving innovation and efficiency across all network components. Configure, manage, and troubleshoot complex routing, switching, and wireless solutions in a multi-vendor environment.


System Administration & Automation:
Manage and optimize server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of critical systems. Utilize automated deployment tools such as Ansible and Terraform to provision, configure, and manage infrastructure. Debug and extend existing Ansible playbooks, and collaborate with the team to architect new servers and services for automated deployment. Implement and maintain configuration management across heterogeneous system environments.


Identity & Access Management Protocols:
Configure, troubleshoot, and debug AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting)servers in a diverse environment. Possess deep knowledge and hands-on experience with directory protocols including LDAP,Kerberos, RADIUS, and SAML for secure user and device authentication. Ensure secure integration of identity services with network and application infrastructure.


Database Administration:
Administer and provide operational support for SQL databases, including monitoring, backup,recovery, and performance tuning. Debug database server issues and possess the ability to understand and write basic SQL queriesfor troubleshooting and reporting.


Operational Excellence & Security:
Monitor system health, performance, and security across all infrastructure components. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network topologies, systemconfigurations, and operational procedures. Collaborate with security teams to enforce best practices and implement robust security controlsacross networks and systems.


WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU LL
Develop a working relationship with the IT Manager and Infrastructure Team. Work with the Infra team to learn the systems we use, and policies and procedures. Explore and become familiar with the existing environment. Become familiar with existing networks, (LAN and WAN). WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU LL
Understand the full system architecture and be able to maintain and recommend improvements. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing systems. Work with the IT team on project planning and scope exercises to continuously improve ourinfrastructure performance. Be able to document all configurations, and create best practices. WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU LL
Provide guidance on Infrastructure design, deployable scripting, and scalable upgrades. Ensure best practices are in place for new and existing use cases. Make strategic recommendations for processes around hardening and maintaining our infrastructure,while improving end user experiences.
