System Power and Performance Engineer For Mobile and Compute

General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer, Senior to drive performance analysis and benchmarking across mobile and desktop platforms. This role focuses on embedded systems and OS-level performance, delivering insights that shape next-generation products. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with leadership capabilities to guide cross-functional teams and influence product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of mobile and desktop platforms, focusing on embedded systems and OS-level performance.
• Develop and execute benchmarking methodologies to evaluate CPU, GPU, and AI workloads across Windows, iOS/macOS, and Android ecosystems.
• Conduct power grid and energy consumption analysis, identifying optimization opportunities and trade-offs.
• Perform use case workload characterization and sensitivity analysis to assess real-world application scenarios.
• Collaborate with architecture teams on PPA (Power, Performance, Area) trade-offs.
• Provide post-silicon validation and actionable feedback to influence future product designs.
• Enhance analysis tools, instrumentation, and automation frameworks to identify performance gaps and optimization options.
• Act as a technical lead, guiding teams in competitive benchmarking and system-level evaluations.
• Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver cross-platform insights that inform product strategy.

Preferred Qualifications Areas of Expertise

• Proven experience with complex embedded systems in Mobile, IoT, or Automotive domains.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture and OS fundamentals.
• Expertise in Linux/Android kernel optimization, Linux scheduler, DVFS, system programming etc.
• Hands-on experience with power-performance optimization techniques (DCVS/DVFS governors, QoS).
• Familiarity with lab equipment for Debug and Power measurements like JTAGs, Oscilloscopes, DAQs etc.
• Proficiency in ADB shell, scripting (Python, shell), automation environments, and system-level debugging.
• Experience with Git, Jira, Android tools, and toolchains.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to manage tasks independently.
• Track record of advising teams on competitive analysis of hardware/software designs, identifying potential flaws, and driving corrective actions.

Education Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in performance analysis, benchmarking, Linux Kernel code analysis, Reverse engineering and embedded systems development.
