Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position delivers comprehensive, end-to-end application and infrastructure support, spanning the full spectrum from logging, triaging, and resolving routine issues to advanced troubleshooting of escalated incidents, performing complex maintenance and upgrades, collaborating proactively with infrastructure, development, and business teams, mentoring and guiding junior staff, and continuously improving processes to ensure seamless, reliable, and business-aligned service delivery across the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quickly assess and diagnose system and application issues; coordinate with business and IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Manage the ticket queue for assignments, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of trouble tickets, actions taken, and resolutions.
  • Provide front-line (L1) technical support for routine issues (password resets, account provisioning, software installs, basic network/application problems).
  • Deliver second line (L2) technical support for escalated or complex related to system administration operations.
  • Monitor the availability, performance, and security of IT systems and networks using standard tools; respond proactively to alerts and anomalies.
  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance, validation, and upgrades for internally developed and vendor COTS applications under senior staff guidance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring or critical issues and recommend improvements to reduce incidents and downtime.
  • Participate in IT projects and initiatives (upgrades, migrations, integrations, deployments), providing technical input, testing, and post-deployment support.
  • Document and update IT policies, procedures, standards, runbooks, and best practices, ensuring compliance with IT governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions; propose opportunities for automation, optimization, and innovation within the IT environment.
  • Mentor and guide Level 1 staff on processes, tools, and best practices to strengthen team capability and knowledge sharing.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 2 years experience with System administration and familiarity with SQL Server preferred.
  • Understanding enterprise applications, data processing methods, and ability to interpret technical logs for troubleshooting.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SPLUNK and/or LogicMonitor (preferred).

Exposure to multiple operating systems including Unix, Linux, AIX, and Windows.

  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and networks (Citrix, Windows, Linux, Virtual Servers Technologies, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN/WLAN, VPN, storage, backup, cloud services, and infrastructure monitoring).
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues and incidents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work effectively across all stakeholder levels.
  • Good organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and provide technical input to IT initiatives.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear documentation (SOPs, runbooks, escalation paths).
  • Basic scripting or automation knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for repetitive task automation
  • Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and drive tasks to completion without close supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 2–3 years’ experience triaging user, network, and app issues across Windows, Linux, Virtual Servers Technologies, Citrix, servers, storage, and cloud.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve escalated incidents with LogicMonitor/Splunk; work with IT teams for rapid resolution.
  • Standard Procedures: Execute and document tasks handed off from L3/L4 to streamline operations.
