Purpose/Objective


    The Survey Manager (Projects)-Tx is responsible for overseeing and executing land and route surveys for transmission projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. This role involves managing topographical surveys, right-of-way assessments, and geotechnical investigations to support project planning and execution. By leveraging advanced survey methodologies and GIS technologies, the role ensures precise data collection, mitigates potential route challenges, and facilitates smooth project approvals and land acquisition processes, contributing to the timely and cost-effective execution of transmission projects.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Survey Manager (Projects)-Tx Survey Planning and Execution: Ensure accurate and timely execution of transmission line surveys by planning, coordinating, and supervising all survey activities, including route alignment, profiling, and tower spotting. Optimize survey efficiency by deploying appropriate methodologies such as Total Station, GPS, and LiDAR to enhance data accuracy and project feasibility. Minimize project risks by conducting thorough feasibility studies, identifying right-of-way (ROW) constraints, and proposing alternative solutions to mitigate challenges. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Maintain survey accuracy by ensuring strict adherence to industry standards, including IS Codes, CBIP manuals, and statutory survey guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance by obtaining necessary clearances, verifying land ownership records, and maintaining documentation for approvals. Improve data reliability by implementing robust quality control measures, conducting verification surveys, and cross-checking GIS and topographical data. Stakeholder Coordination and Liaison: Facilitate smooth land acquisition and ROW approvals by liaising with local authorities, landowners, and regulatory bodies, ensuring minimal disputes and project delays. Strengthen coordination with project, engineering, and execution teams by providing precise survey data, resolving technical discrepancies, and supporting design optimization. Enhance contractor efficiency by supervising survey agencies, reviewing work outputs, and ensuring adherence to predefined survey specifications. Technology Integration and Innovation: Improve survey accuracy and efficiency by integrating advanced tools such as drone-based surveys, GIS mapping, and 3D terrain modeling. Drive innovation in survey techniques by evaluating emerging technologies, implementing digital workflows, and adopting automation tools for data collection and processing. Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution: Minimize survey-related project risks by proactively identifying encroachments, environmental constraints, and land acquisition challenges, ensuring timely resolution. Prevent execution delays by addressing discrepancies between survey reports and site conditions, coordinating with engineering teams for necessary adjustments. Data Management and Reporting: Ensure comprehensive survey documentation by maintaining geospatial data, topographical reports, and land ownership records for future reference and regulatory compliance. Support decision-making by generating accurate survey reports, analyzing terrain challenges, and providing data-driven insights to project teams. Team Supervision and Development: Enhance survey team performance by assigning clear responsibilities, providing technical training, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Foster a collaborative work environment by mentoring surveyors, promoting knowledge sharing, and driving continuous improvements in survey methodologies. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Geography, or a related field. Work Experience (Range of years): 8–12 years of experience in survey planning and execution for transmission lines, infrastructure projects, or large-scale land surveying.
