Surgical Oncologist
to join our oncology department. This position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality cancer care through surgical expertise. As a Surgical Oncologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with solid tumors, often as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care team.The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and performing complex cancer surgeries, providing expert post-operative care, and working closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver personalized treatment plans. Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with various types of solid tumors requiring surgical intervention.
- Plan and perform oncologic surgeries including tumor resection, biopsies, reconstructive procedures, and palliative surgeries.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized cancer treatment plans.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure optimal patient recovery.
- Monitor and manage surgical complications and intervene appropriately when needed.
- Provide consultation services and second opinions for complex cancer cases.
- Participate in tumor boards, case discussions, and quality improvement programs.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in surgical oncology and adopt innovative techniques when appropriate.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, and follow-up care.
- Contribute to academic and research initiatives, including clinical trials and peer-reviewed publications, as applicable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- MBBS and MS (General Surgery) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- MCh/DNB in Surgical Oncology or equivalent super-specialty training.
- 0-5 years of relevant experience in surgical oncology, including residency or fellowship training.
- Proficient in performing a wide range of cancer surgeries (e.g., breast, gastrointestinal, head and neck, thoracic, gynecologic, etc.).
- Excellent knowledge of oncologic principles, staging systems, and multidisciplinary cancer management.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and high-pressure clinical environment.
- Commitment to patient-centric care, safety, and ethical medical practice.
Desirable Skills:
- Prior experience as a Surgical Oncology Consultant or Cancer Surgeon in a recognized institution.
- Exposure to minimally invasive or robotic-assisted cancer surgeries.
- Experience with academic teaching, case presentations, or research in oncologic surgery
