Support Engineer

Role Overview: As a Relational Database Support Engineer, you will be responsible for setting up, configuring, administering, and maintaining multiple production and development environments with backend databases such as MSSQL, MYSQL, PostgreSQL, and Mongo database. Key Responsibilities: - Database Administration: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade MSSQL, MYSQL, PostgreSQL, and Mongo database servers. - Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize query performance through query analysis, index optimization, and server parameter tuning. - High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain solutions for high availability and disaster recovery, including replication, clustering, and backups. - Security Management: Enforce database security policies, manage user access, and conduct security audits regularly. - Backup & Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, perform regular backups, and test recovery procedures. - Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database issues including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption. - Automation: Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Python, and automation tools. - Monitoring: Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively address potential issues. - Capacity Planning: Participate in capacity planning to ensure database resources meet future growth demands. - Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other teams to support application development and deployment. - 24/7 Support: Participate in a 24/7 rotation to provide continuous support. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. - Knowledge of MSSQL, MYSQL (Preferred), PostgreSQL, and Mongo database. - Proficiency in SQL and database scripting. - Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as replication, Log shipping, clustering, and master/slave replication. - Familiarity with database security best practices. - Knowledge of database monitoring and performance analysis tools like Percona Monitoring Plugins, Prometheus, Grafana. - Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python. - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure Database, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
