Job Overview

A Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing the quality aspects of materials and services provided by external suppliers. The role involves implementing quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with suppliers to address quality issues. SQEs work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and engineering, to ensure that the components and materials sourced meet the companys quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity of the supply chain and ensuring that end products meet the high standards expected by customers and stakeholders.

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Responsibilities & Duties

  • Training new employees, suppliers, and vendor on quality assurance procedures and protocols
  • Providing advice to vendor on how to reduce defect rates
  • Conducting Audits of quality and efficiency of systems and products, conducting Audits of quality system completing system maintenance when necessary
  • Visiting vendor facilities to ensure they uphold quality standards leading other employees involved in assessing supplier quality standards developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with quality management systems.
  • Experience with supplier audits and assessments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality assurance or a related role.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards.
  • Proven experience in conducting supplier audits and assessments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related quality standards.
