Role & responsibilities Role Objective: To lead and manage the engineering function with a focus on product industrialization, tooling, and process engineering. The Engineering Head will be responsible for translating customer (OEM) drawings and specifications into manufacturable fastener components through robust process development using cold forging, heat treatment, and plating technologies. Key Responsibilities: 1. Product Development & Industrialization Interpret and validate customer drawings, technical specifications, and standards. Lead the engineering team to develop and release manufacturing drawings, process flow diagrams, and control plans. Develop DFMEA and PFMEA in collaboration with Quality and Production teams. Oversee tooling design and ensure timely development for cold forging operations. Ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness during development stages. Coordinate sample development, PPAP submissions, and approvals from OEMs. 2. Process Engineering Design and optimize manufacturing processes including cold forging, heat treatment, and plating. Drive continuous improvement in process efficiency, cycle time, and material utilization. Implement best practices for tool life improvement, process reliability, and yield enhancement. Support production team in resolving process-related challenges and deviations. 3. Tooling and Fixture Development Guide and approve the design of dies, punches, and special tools for cold forging operations. Interface with tool rooms (internal/external) for timely procurement and validation. 4. Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Maintenance teams for NPI and ramp-up. Liaise with OEMs and Tier-1 customers during development stages and technical discussions. 5. Team Leadership and Capability Building Lead and mentor a team of design engineers, process engineers, and tooling specialists. Build engineering capabilities to support current and future technology needs. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards in all engineering activities. Key Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of automotive fastener design, standards (DIN, ISO, JIS), and testing. Hands-on expertise in cold forging process design, die design, and tooling life optimization. Familiarity with heat treatment processes (quenching, tempering) and plating techniques (zinc, Dacromet, etc.) .
