STP OPERATOR

An STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment plant. This includes monitoring and controlling equipment, performing routine inspections, collecting and analyzing samples, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. They also maintain records, troubleshoot issues, and participate in safety procedures. Key Responsibilities:

• Operating and Monitoring:Operating and monitoring equipment like pumps, aerators, chemical feeders, filters, and sludge digesters. This also includes controlling processes and systems through control boards.
• Routine Maintenance and Inspections:Performing regular checks on plant equipment, conducting preventative maintenance, and identifying and addressing any malfunctions or safety issues.
• Water Quality Monitoring:Collecting and analyzing wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including monitoring parameters like pH, BOD, COD, TDS, and DO.
• Troubleshooting:Identifying and resolving operational issues, potentially coordinating with maintenance staff.
• Record Keeping:Maintaining accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation related to plant operations.
• Safety Compliance:Following safety protocols, maintaining a clean work environment, and participating in emergency response procedures.
• Chemical Handling:Handling and dosing chemicals like chlorine, alum, and lime as per requirements.
• Sludge Handling:Managing and maintaining sludge and ensuring hygienic plant conditions.
• Quality Control:Conducting quality control checks on the treated water and wastewater to ensure proper treatment and compliance.
• Collaboration:Working with other team members and management to improve operational procedures and plant performance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and adjust treatment processes accordingly.
